Best places to walk your dog in Rancho Cucamonga!

We are extremely fortunate to be a dog walking company that is based out of Rancho Cucamonga! You are guaranteed to find a park within a 5 mile radius of any neighborhood, which means we often walk doggo’s right over to a nearby park! Here are some of our favorite parks and places to take the dogs out!

heritage community park

Heritage Community Park

Heritage park is by far a top choice and our go to spot for our pack walks! There is a wide open equestrian area which provides lots of space and good training ground. We often see horses and people enjoying the paved walkway. The park itself is massive and very well maintained! There is also a lovely & somewhat secret trail that leads you up towards the base of the mountains- over to the top of Hellman- just walk east along Hillside Rd and you will see a paved path on your left hand side. Follow that path over to a tree lined trail, which will continue until you reach the base of the mountain.

Victoria Park Lane

Victoria Park Lane is one of our favorite streets in Rancho Cucamonga. It has a tree lined paved path that runs along the street called Victoria Park Ln. There are also various parks that have paths which lead you onto Victoria Park Lane. You can start at Victoria Groves Park, and go all the way through to the end until you hit Baseline Rd. Along Victoria Park Lane, there is also Kenyon Park, Vintage Park, and Windrows Park. Our favorite part to walk along is closest to Windrows Park because of all of the eucalyptus trees and neat tunnel! You can also start @ Kenyon Park and make a pit stop over at Bad Ass Coffee (dog friendly) before going on your walk.

mountain view park

Mountain View Park

Mountain View Park is a smaller park, but it’s a good starting point because it leads over into a paved walkway that takes you all the way through to Spruce Avenue Park. What we like most about this walkway is that it’s nice and shady. It’s an ideal spot for us to take the dogs especially when it starts getting hot in Rancho!

Day Creek Canal

Day Creek Canal

This is not a well known location, but we used to take our pack out here all the time. You can get to the Day Creek Canal by parking on Wilson/Daycreek on the west side. It’s very quiet, and empty, and very peaceful. I would recommend it for an early morning walk when it’s not too hot out, it’s a long paved path that takes you to the base of the mountain. It’s also an uphill walk, so you get a nice workout heading up there. You can opt to go downhill, but it leads to Banyan and the only way in is past the vinyl fence on Wilson.

Pacific Electric bike trail

Pacific Electric Bike Trail

The pacific electric trail has many starting points throughout the city. A good place to consider starting could be over by the newer shopping center with Stater Bro’s, CVS, and Starbucks in case you need to get a bathroom (and starbucks) break in before hitting the path. It’s a nice and open paved path that goes on for miles. You can reach upland with this path, we’ve mostly walked along the part that is off Etiwanda Ave. Which I would also say is a nice street to walk along because of the historic homes.

Victoria Gardens

Victoria Gardens is a great place to take your dog out for socialization, especially as a young puppy! There are lots of sounds, people, and distractions. The stores are pet friendly as well. I would definitely recommend bringing your own poop bags, because Victoria Gardens does not have any poop bag stations (side note-we should make a petition to change this).

Victoria Arbors Park

Victoria Arbors Park is conveniently located a short distance from Victoria Gardens. I always recommend walking your dog first for a bit before heading into more exciting territory (like Victoria Gardens) to make the walk around Victoria Gardens more enjoyable. The park itself is not too big, but like all other parks in Rancho, it’s very well maintained and leads over to different streets, like Victoria Park lane, or up Day Creek by Sprouts.

Day Creek Park

We like Day Creek Park because it leads onto Banyan. Which is another tree lined street that goes on for miles! There is a paved side to walk along, and there is a horse trail as well. If you walk along Banyan towards East Ave., you can make your way up to the Etiwanda Creek Dog Park.

Dog Friendly Stores

Apart from parks, there are lots of dog friendly stores to take your pups! Stores are a more challenging location, but they can be a good place to train your dog to overcome fears, build confidence, and gain exposure to different sounds and smells. Plus, it’s always nice to have a companion at times when you need to make a Home Depot run! Here are some local dog friendly stores & coffee shops, you can bring your dog inside to all of these places:

  • Home Goods

  • Lowes

  • Bass Pro Shop

  • Home Depot

  • Protein for Pets

  • Bad Ass Coffee

Your neighborhood

Lastly, your neighborhood is a good place to start. One of the best ways to build trust and a stronger bond with your dog is simply taking them for a walk. I like to start my day by going for a walk with my dogs, and then giving them their breakfast. If you are struggling with the walk, feel free to reach out to us. Sometimes, the right tool or some simple tweaking in handling technique makes all the difference!
